This was my first time coming to a braiding shop in LA and I had a great experience! I'd brought in mixed colors of braiding hair (#4/#27/#30) and added wavy hair that I'd bought in the same colors for full bora bora braids (intentionally thin braids because I didn't want them to be heavy).

The wavy hair came with wefts since it was originally intended for weaving, and they graciously cut it into bulk hair although the weave hair hadn't been the most suitable for the style in comparison to bulk hair & made their work a bit more difficult.

I felt accommodated throughout the entire experience, and there was never a moment when I felt unattended to. I had two people working on my braids as a team, sometimes alternating. When one person took a break, someone else stepped in & everyone was really nice and worked quickly. They also had snacks available, which was great because I'd come in having forgotten to eat while prepping my hair and braiding materials.

The braids themselves didn't hurt at all at any point (no holding the braid down to avoid a headache or tightness afterwards), and the braids feel firmly attached with no slippage even with my fine hair strands & minimal gel usage.

Most importantly, the braids look amazing!! They made the colors blend so well and tucked the added hair really well. Some of my favorite braids ever....more

I just had the most incredible experience at Salon Daba and I couldn’t wait to share it! I went in for Chanel braids, also known as Bora Bora, and what unfolded was a heartwarming, unforgettable adventure.

From the moment I entered, the atmosphere felt like a cozy family gathering. Though we started late in the evening, the entire team came together to work on my hair—they really went above and beyond! It felt like being back home in Africa, surrounded by all the aunties lovingly doing your hair, sharing stories, laughter, and love.

Amina, who is the owner led the team, but it was such a collaborative effort! Everyone pitched in, dancing and singing while expertly braiding my hair, creating an uplifting vibe that made me forget I was in a salon. It was like a little celebration, and I felt surrounded by warmth and positivity.

While getting my hair done, I observed all the other customers in the salon. Every single person seemed to thoroughly enjoy the service, but most importantly, they were relaxed and loved their hair. The smiles, the hugs, and the sheer joy radiating from everyone showed how special they felt. You could see that “spank” in their walk—the feeling you get when you know you look amazing and your hairstylist has you looking hot!

The final result of my braids? Absolute stunning perfection! Each braid is a work of art, crafted with care and attention. The fabulous products they used left my hair feeling so healthy and shiny.
