Get answers to common questions about Jumbo XL 16" (Armpit length).
Installation typically takes 4–7 hours depending on hair density, desired fullness, and any blending required. Jumbo XL braids are larger and fuller, so plan for a longer appointment. Our stylists provide an estimated time during consultation.
Knotless technique reduces tension and risk of breakage, making it gentler than traditional braids. With professional installation, proper parting and moderate size, your natural hair is protected. Follow aftercare and avoid extreme pulling for best results.
Quantity depends on desired thickness and hair size; Jumbo XL needs more material. Typically clients use 6–10 packs of braid hair for armpit length, sometimes more for extra fullness. Bring photos and consult for an accurate estimate.
Sleep on a satin pillow or wear a silk/satin bonnet nightly, moisturize scalp lightly, cleanse every 2–3 weeks, and dry thoroughly. Avoid heavy oils at the roots and schedule touch-ups to maintain neatness and hair health.
You can swim and exercise, but protect braids with a swim cap and tie hair up. Rinse thoroughly after swimming to remove chlorine or salt, and gently dry. Frequent wetting can shorten the style's life without proper care.
Jumbo XL 16" knotless braids typically last 4–8 weeks depending on care and hair growth. Because the braids are larger, we often recommend a check at 4–6 weeks for maintenance, and removal by 8 weeks to protect your natural hair.
